City photography is unforgiving. Harsh midday light flattens a skyline. Wet pavement at night blows out into muddy orange. A moody alley shot that looked perfect on your camera screen turns grey and lifeless on a laptop. Getting consistent, professional results from urban scenes in Lightroom takes a lot of time, and most photographers don’t have it.
These urban presets are built specifically for city photography. I’ve tested every single one across street portraits, blue-hour cityscapes, industrial architecture, and neon-lit nightlife. Whether you shoot on a Sony, Canon, Fuji, or even an iPhone, you get a strong starting point you can fine-tune in seconds.
Each preset comes as both a DNG file (for Lightroom Mobile on iOS and Android) and an XMP file (for Lightroom Classic on desktop). No account required. Just download, import, and start editing.

Urban presets differ from general presets because they’re tuned for the challenges of city photography:
- Mixed artificial lighting: sodium streetlamps, LED shop signs, and fluorescent office windows all cast different color casts in the same frame.
- High dynamic range scenes: bright sky above, deep shadow below street level.
- Texture-heavy subjects: concrete, glass, metal, and brick all respond differently to clarity and texture sliders.
The 15 categories below each target a different mood and shooting condition, so you’ll always have the right starting point regardless of the time of day or weather you shoot in.

1. Dark Urban Preset
The Dark Urban is built for low-light city shooting: wet streets after midnight, underpasses, or moody back alleys where the only light comes from a distant street lamp. The look centers on crushed shadows, lifted blacks, and a subtle cool-to-warm split tone that keeps the image from going flat.
What separates this from a generic dark preset is the shadow treatment. Rather than simply dropping exposure, it selectively deepens the darkest 20% of the tonal range while preserving detail in the mid-tones. So faces and textured walls don’t disappear into a black void.
Exposure: −0.4 | Contrast: +25 | Shadows: −30 | Blacks: −20 HSL — Blues: Hue +8, Saturation −10 | Oranges: Saturation +12 | Tone Curve: drag the bottom-left point up slightly to lift the blacks to a faded film feel | Vignette: −18, Midpoint 40, Feather 75.

Purpose: a moody, intense atmosphere that draws attention to the contrast between light and darkness.
Best For: Nighttime cityscapes, rainy days, or any urban shot that needs a touch of drama.
Style: Mysterious, dramatic, and intense.
2. Urban Black Preset
Urban Black strips a city photo down to its structural bones. Color is removed entirely or reduced to near zero, leaving only the interplay among light, shadow, line, and texture. It’s the right choice when you want your viewer to focus on composition rather than color.
This isn’t a flat desaturation. The black-and-white mix is tuned so that the blues typical in sky and glass go darker while warm-toned concrete and brick retain a mid-grey that keeps them readable. Architecture shot in harsh midday sun that looks overcooked in color often looks brilliant in this preset.
Saturation: −100 (full B&W) | Vibrance: −30 | B&W Mix — Reds: +15, Oranges: +10, Blues: −20, Aquas: −15 Clarity: +25 | Texture: +20 | Grain: Amount 18, Size 25, Roughness 50.

Purpose: sleek, minimalist black-and-white images that focus on form and shadow.
Best For: Architectural photography, minimalist street scenes, or any shot where you want to focus on structure.
Style: Cool, minimalist, and stylish.
3. Moody Urban Preset
Moody Urban is one of the most requested styles in city photography right now. You’ll recognize it immediately from Instagram and editorial travel blogs. The palette pulls greens and blues towards olive and teal, slightly desaturates skin tones to avoid the “Instagram face” look, and raises the shadows just enough so the image never feels muddy.
It works best on overcast shooting days, when flat natural light is usually a problem. This preset treats that flatness as an asset, using it to create a contemplative, film-like atmosphere.
Temp: −150 (shift slightly cool) | Tint: +5 Exposure: −0.2 | Shadows: −15 | Highlights: −20 HSL — Greens: Hue −20, Saturation −15 | Aquas: Hue +15 | Tone Curve: add a slight S-curve with the midtones pulled slightly down.

Purpose: deep emotions and create a mysterious, introspective mood in your urban photography.
Best For: Overcast days, early mornings, or any scene with rich shadows and soft light.
Style: Emotional, mysterious, and artistic.
4. Urban Black and Orange Preset
Black and Orange is a cinematic color grade made famous by Hollywood blockbusters. It’s the combination that makes a night scene feel like it belongs in an action film. The technique works by desaturating everything except the orange-red spectrum, then deepening the blacks so the warm light sources pop against near-total darkness.
City photography is the natural home for this look. Street lights, neon signs, car headlights, and lit shopfronts all sit in the orange-amber range, so real light sources in your scene naturally become the focal points once this preset is applied.
Exposure: −0.3 | Contrast: +35 | Blacks: −30 | HSL - all colours: Saturation −40, EXCEPT Oranges: +50 and Reds: +30 | Split Tone — Shadows: Hue 210, Saturation 15 (adds a cool blue to the darks) Vignette: −25, tight Midpoint 30.

Purpose: strong contrast between warm and cool tones.
Best For: Nighttime street photography, city sunsets, or any scene with warm artificial lighting.
Style: Bold, vibrant, and dynamic.
5. Urban Street Presets
Street photography demands presets that handle movement, mixed light, and complex backgrounds without making the image feel processed. Urban Street is the workhorse of this collection. It adds just enough punch and color separation to make a scene pop without drawing attention to the editing.
The key adjustment is a warm highlight shift combined with a cool shadow push, which separates subjects from backgrounds naturally and adds the “three-dimensional” quality that distinguishes great street shots from snapshots.
Exposure: +0.2 | Contrast: +20 | Shadows: +20 | Highlights: −10 Vibrance: +20 | Saturation: +10 HSL — Reds: Hue +8 | Blues: Hue −12, Saturation +15 | Clarity: +18 | Texture: +12.

Purpose: energy, movement, and vibrancy of street life.
Best For: Street photography, bustling markets, or any urban scene full of life and movement.
Style: Lively, detailed, and vibrant.
6. Urban Blue Preset
Urban Blue is made for the 20 minutes after sunset, known as “blue hour”, one of the best windows for city photography. During blue hour, natural ambient light balances almost perfectly with artificial city lights, and the sky turns a deep, saturated cobalt. This preset amplifies that blue quality across the whole frame, creating a serene, almost surreal city atmosphere.
It also works well on rainy-day shots, where puddles and wet surfaces pick up a cool cast, and on scenes near water where the sky color reflects into the foreground.
Temp: −400 | Highlights: −25 | Shadows: +15 HSL — Blues: Saturation +35, Luminance −15 | Aquas: Saturation +20 | Dehaze: −10 (adds softness, counter-intuitive but effective for this look) Vignette: −12.

Purpose: serene, cool-toned urban photos that emphasize calm and tranquility.
Best For: Overcast days, blue hour photography, or any scene with a lot of sky or water reflections.
Style: Calm, cool, and serene.
7. Cinematic Urban Preset
The cinematic look is probably the most-searched style in Lightroom preset communities, and for good reason. It transforms even an ordinary urban snapshot into something that feels deliberate and story-driven. The core of the cinematic grade is a teal-and-orange split: warm skin tones and light sources against cool, desaturated shadows and backgrounds.
This preset goes further by adding a slight fade to the blacks, which mimics how film stock handles dark areas. Combined with reduced highlights, this results in a compressed, controlled dynamic range that feels more like a cinema screen than a photograph.
Exposure: −0.2 | Highlights: −30 | Shadows: −20 | Whites: −15 | Blacks: +10 (this lifts the toe) | Split Tone — Highlights: Hue 40 (orange), Saturation 10 | Shadows: Hue 200 (teal), Saturation 15 | HSL — Oranges: Saturation +20, Luminance +5 | Blues: Saturation −10 Clarity: +15.

Purpose: dramatic, movie-like quality to your urban photos.
Best For: Street photography, cityscapes, and any urban shot with strong light and shadow play.
Usage: When you want your photos to tell a powerful story with a cinematic touch.
Style: Bold, dramatic, and intense.
8. Urban Jungle Preset
Not all urban photography is concrete and glass. Rooftop gardens, city parks, tree-lined avenues, and the creeping ivy on old brick buildings all offer rich green subject matter. Urban Jungle is calibrated to make the vegetation look lush and vivid while keeping the surrounding built environment grounded and natural.
The greens are shifted slightly towards yellow-green and boosted in both saturation and luminance. Simultaneously, blues and cyans are toned down so the sky doesn’t compete.
Exposure: +0.15 | Shadows: +20 | HSL — Greens: Hue −15 (shifts towards yellow-green), Saturation +30, | Luminance +10 | HSL — Yellows: Saturation +20 Clarity: +10 | Texture: +12.

Purpose: nature and urban environments in your photos.
Best For: Shots where nature meets the city, such as rooftop gardens, parks, and other urban green spaces.
Usage: When you want to emphasize the coexistence of nature and city life.
Style: Fresh, natural, and vibrant.
9. Vintage Grit Urban Preset
Old cities have memory in their walls: peeling paint, worn cobblestones, and faded signage that tells you a neighborhood has been through decades of change. The Vintage Grit is designed to surface that sense of time in your images. Faded, slightly warm tones combined with noticeable grain push the photo towards the aesthetic of 35mm film from the 1970s and 80s.
The key technical element is the tone curve treatment: the blacks are lifted (faded), the highlights are pulled down, and a slight warm tint is added to the midtones. This creates the characteristic “washed out but warm” look of old analog photography.
Tone Curve - lift the bottom-left (black) point to around 20 on the output axis (creates fade) Temp: +200 (warm shift) | Highlights: −20 | Contrast: −15 Saturation: −20 | HSL — Oranges: Saturation +10 (keeps skin/brick warm) Grain: Amount 30, Size 30, Roughness 60 Vignette: −18.

Purpose: a nostalgic, timeless feel.
Best For: Old architecture, vintage cars, or any scene that feels like a step back in time.
Usage: When you want your photos to evoke a sense of history and nostalgia.
Style: Warm, gritty, and nostalgic.
10. Urban Vibrant Presets
Cities are full of color: neon signs, painted murals, brightly tiled markets, and flower stalls against grey concrete. Urban Vibrant is built to make all of that color sing without pushing things into oversaturated territory that looks fake on screen. The approach uses Vibrance (which protects already saturated colors) rather than raw Saturation, so the result remains believable.
This is the best preset in the collection for street art photography, market scenes, and any urban environment where color is the story.
Exposure: +0.25 | Contrast: +20 | Highlights: −15 Vibrance: +35 | Saturation: +12 Clarity: +18 | Texture: +12 | HSL — Blues: Hue −10, Saturation +15 | Reds: Hue +8.

Purpose: vibrant and full of energy.
Best For: Bright cityscapes, street art, and any scene with lots of color.
Usage: When you want your photos to grab attention with bold, vibrant colors.
Style: Bright, energetic, and lively.
11. Urban Decay Preset
Derelict buildings, cracked asphalt, and rusting iron are some of the most photographically compelling subjects in any city, but they’re easy to under-edit. A flat, documentary treatment makes them look like a planning report. Urban Decay pushes in the opposite direction: heavy texture, desaturated palette, and slightly green-shifted shadows create a dystopian atmosphere that makes the photo feel like a statement.
Exposure: −0.3 | Shadows: +20 | Contrast: +15 | Saturation: −25 | HSL — Greens: Hue +20 (shifts to sickly yellow-green), Blues: Saturation +10 Texture: +35 | Clarity: +25 | Grain: Amount 25, Roughness 70.

Purpose: textures and beauty of urban decay in your photos.
Best For: Abandoned buildings, graffiti, and any scene with a sense of urban wear and tear.
Usage: When you want to capture the beauty in decay and neglect.
Style: Gritty, textured, and melancholic.
12. Monochrome City Preset
Monochrome City takes a different approach to black-and-white than Urban Black. Where Urban Black is clean and architectural, Monochrome City is gritty and high-contrast. Contrast is pushed high, and a strong S-curve creates punchy blacks and bright whites with minimal grey mid-tone information.
Saturation: −100 | Contrast: +35 | Whites: +15 | Blacks: −20 B&W Mix — Reds: +20, Oranges: +15, Blues: −25 (creates sky drama) | Clarity: +20 | Grain: Amount 18, Size 20 Vignette: −15.

Purpose: timeless, dramatic black-and-white urban photos.
Best For: High-contrast cityscapes, street photography, and architectural shots.
Usage: When you want to focus on composition, light, and texture without the distraction of color.
Style: Timeless, dramatic, and classic.
13. Industrial Grunge Preset
Industrial Grunge is the most extreme preset in the collection for texture and contrast. It’s calibrated for photographs where metal, concrete, and industrial machinery are the primary subject matter, places where softness or warmth would feel wrong. The resulting image is raw and unapologetic: high texture, desaturated color, and crushed shadows.
Exposure: −0.25 | Shadows: +20 | Blacks: −15 Saturation: −20 | HSL — Blues: Saturation +20, Luminance −10 | Greens: Saturation −15 | Texture: +35 | Clarity: +30 | Grain: Amount 22, Size 28, Roughness 65 Vignette: −12.

Purpose: the rugged, industrial aspects of urban photography.
Best For: Factories, warehouses, construction sites, or any setting with a lot of metal and concrete.
Usage: When you want to showcase the strength and toughness of industrial environments.
Style: Gritty and powerful.
14. Urban Minimalist Preset
Not every city photo needs drama. Modern architecture, clean glass towers, poured concrete facades, and geometric public spaces often look best with a preset that steps back and lets the composition breathe. Urban Minimalist reduces color complexity, slightly softens contrast, and adds a clean, almost Scandinavian stillness to the image.
Exposure: +0.15 | Contrast: −10 | Shadows: −15 | Temp: −150 | Saturation: −20 | Clarity: +15 | Texture: −5 (deliberately soft) | Vignette: −8 (very subtle).

Purpose: clean, simple urban photos that focus on composition and form.
Best For: Modern architecture, urban landscapes with clean lines, and minimalistic street scenes.
Usage: When you want to highlight the beauty in simplicity and structure.
Style: Clean, simple, and modern.
15. Urban Nightlife Preset
Urban Nightlife is designed specifically for the chaos of city streets after dark, with multiple competing light sources, fast-moving people, and the vibrant neon that makes night photography so compelling. The preset boosts saturation selectively (keeping reds, oranges, and blues vivid while pulling back greens and yellows) and applies sharpening to address the soft blur that comes with high-ISO night shots.
Exposure: −0.1 | Contrast: +25 | Shadows: −20 Vibrance: +30 | HSL — Reds: Saturation +25 | Blues: Saturation +20 | Greens: Saturation −10 | Sharpening: Amount 55, Radius 1.2, Detail 35, Masking 25 | Noise Reduction: Luminance 20 (compensates for high-ISO noise) Dehaze: +10.

Purpose: the vibrant, energetic atmosphere of the city at night.
Best For: Nighttime cityscapes, street photography in neon-lit areas, and urban nightlife scenes.
Usage: When you want to showcase the excitement and energy of the city after dark.
Style: Vibrant, energetic, and dynamic.
