Beach photography is unforgiving: the glaring midday sun bleaches your highlights, the golden-hour haze muddies your whites, and that perfect wave shot always comes out either too blue or too orange. I spent two summers on the coast, shooting everything from foggy Pacific mornings to blazing Adriatic afternoons, before I finally figured out that one universal beach edit doesn’t exist. Different light, different vibes need different treatments.
So I built these beach presets from real shooting sessions, not from sliders pushed randomly until things looked “beachy.” Each one below has a specific use case, the exact Lightroom settings behind it, and honest notes on when it fails, so you don’t waste time. They work in Lightroom Classic, Lightroom CC, and Lightroom Mobile. Download the DNG or the XMP.

1. Cinematic/Tropical Paradise Beach Preset
This is the preset I reach for when I’m editing shots from a Caribbean or Southeast Asian beach. the kind where the water is so turquoise it looks fake without help. Tropical Paradise cranks up blues and greens into that postcard territory while keeping skin tones from going radioactive green (a common failure with heavy saturation boosts).

Light Panel: Exposure +10 | Contrast +15
Color Panel: Saturation +20 | Vibrance +25 | Blue Hue → Teal +10
Effects Panel: Clarity +10 | Dehaze −5
Detail Panel: Sharpening +10
Purpose: bright, colorful beach photos that scream vacation.
Best For: Tropical beaches, sunny days, and travel photography.
Style: Vibrant, lively, and refreshing.
2. Dark Vibe Beach
Dark Beach is the preset for when the ocean isn’t friendly: North Sea swells, storm fronts rolling in, or dramatic rocky coastlines where the water looks almost black. It deepens shadows, pulls back exposure, and adds a cinematic weight that makes the viewer feel the cold spray. I’ve used it on shots that looked dull and washed out, and it completely transformed them into editorial-quality images.

Light Panel: Exposure −20 | Highlights −30 | Shadows +25
Color Panel: Temperature −10 | Vibrance −15
Effects Panel: Clarity +20 | Dehaze +25
Detail Panel: Sharpening +15
Purpose: mystery and depth.
Best For: Sunset or early morning scenes with cloudy skies.
Usage: When you want to capture an intense, cinematic moment by the shore.
Style: Dark and dramatic, with a strong emphasis on shadows and subdued colors.
3. Boho Beach
Boho Beach was built for lifestyle and portrait photographers who want their shots to feel editorial without looking over-processed. The warm, earthy tones complement skin tones beautifully at the golden hour, and the soft contrast keeps the mood relaxed rather than punchy. If you shoot content for Instagram or Pinterest, this is the preset your feed needs.

Light Panel: Exposure +10 | Highlights −10
Color Panel: Temperature +15 | Tint +10
Effects Panel: Texture +15 | Vignette −10
Detail Panel: Noise Reduction +10
Purpose: warmth and freedom.
Best For: Golden hour shots, bohemian vibes, or lifestyle beach photography.
Usage: Great for beachside portraits, sunsets, and those laid-back, “lost in the moment” shots.
Style: Warm and earthy, bringing out soft highlights and a natural glow.
4. Minimal Beach
Minimal Beach strips the scene back to its essentials: softer contrast, lower saturation, and a clean tonal balance that lets the composition breathe. It’s the preset I use when the beach itself is the subject: a lone shell on wet sand, a single trail of footprints, an empty horizon at 6 am.

Light Panel: Exposure +15 | Contrast −20.
Color Panel: Saturation −25 | Vibrance −10.
Effects Panel: Clarity −5 | Vignette −5.
Detail Panel: Sharpening +10.
Purpose: light, airy, and clutter-free.
Best For: Calm, peaceful beach shots, especially with minimal elements.
Usage: shells on sand, minimalist beachscapes, or wide shots of the ocean.
Style: Clean, gentle, and soothing.
5. Dark Matte Cherry Beach
Dark Cherry is the wild card in this collection. It mixes deep reds and purples into a moody scene, creating something that feels cinematic and slightly surreal: a sunset that turned gothic. It’s best used deliberately on shots where you want a strong creative statement rather than a realistic edit.

Light Panel: Exposure −20 | Highlights −15 | Shadows +10
Color Panel: Tint +20 | Vibrance +15
Effects Panel: Texture +10 | Vignette −15
Detail Panel: Sharpening +5
Purpose: Moody reds and purples.
Best For: Sunset or sunrise shots, particularly when you want to highlight rich color.
Usage: dreamy, almost painterly beach scenes with a hint of fantasy.
Style: Rich, romantic, and a touch dramatic, Dark Cherry Beach.
6. Golden Hour Glow Beach Preset
Golden Hour Glow is the most-used preset in my workflow, and for good reason, the 30–60 minutes before sunset produces the most flattering light for beach photography. And this preset is specifically tuned to push that magic further without going orange and fake. It handles warm skin tones beautifully while keeping the sky a believable color.

Light Panel: Exposure +15 | Shadows +20 | Temperature +20.
Color Panel: Orange +25 | Yellow +25 | Blue −10.
Effects Panel: Vignette −10 | Clarity +5.
Detail Panel: Sharpening +5.
Purpose: warm, glowing beach photos.
Best For: Sunset or sunrise shots, romantic beach scenes.
Style: Soft, warm, and romantic.
7. Cool Ocean Breeze Preset
Cool Ocean Breeze was made for the other side of beach photography, the grey, windswept, wild-ocean days that are just as beautiful but different. It leans into the blues and cool tones, cranks up the dehaze to cut through coastal mist, and produces shots that feel like a National Geographic ocean spread. If your beach photo could be described as “dramatic seascape,” this is your preset.

Light Panel: Exposure −10 | Contrast +20.
Color Panel: Blue +30 | Temperature −15 | Warm tones −20.
Effects Panel: Clarity +15 | Dehaze +10.
Detail Panel: Sharpening +20.
Purpose: cool, crisp beach photos that highlight the ocean and sky.
Best For: Overcast beach days, ocean waves, and moody seascapes.
Style: Cool, serene, and refreshing.
8. Vintage Beach Vibes Preset
There’s a whole genre of beach photography that’s deliberately retro, faded colors, film grain, a slight color cast that makes you feel like the photo was shot in 1975 and just developed. Vintage Beach Vibes nails that aesthetic without looking like a cheap Instagram filter. The grain is intentional and calibrated, and the color fade is warm rather than muddy.

Light Panel: Contrast −15 | Highlights −20 | Shadows +10.
Color Panel: Temperature +15 | Saturation −10.
Effects Panel: Grain +20 | Clarity −10 | Vignette −15.
Detail Panel: Sharpening +5.
Purpose: nostalgic, retro beach photos with a vintage feel.
Best For: Vintage-inspired photography, old beach towns.
Style: Warm, nostalgic, and soft.
9. Sun-Kissed Sand Preset
Sun-Kissed Sand is laser-focused on one of beach photography’s most beautiful details: the way sunlight hits dry sand, making it glow almost gold. This preset boosts yellows and highlights, specifically in sand tones, while keeping the sky from overexposing, a technically tricky balance to achieve manually that this preset handles cleanly.

Light Panel: Exposure +15 | Highlights +20 | Temperature +10.
Color Panel: Yellow +20 | Orange +20 | Blue −10.
Effects Panel: Texture +10 | Vignette −5.
Detail Panel: Sharpening +10.
Purpose: warm, glowing beach photos.
Best For: Bright, sunny beach days, close-ups of sand.
Style: Warm, bright, and inviting.
10. Sea Blues Preset
Sea Blues pushes the ocean’s natural palette to its dramatic extreme, deep navy, rich teal, and almost-black shadows in the water. It’s the right choice when the ocean itself is the entire subject, not just a background: wave photography, underwater edges, rocky tidal pools. The heavy blue shift and sharpening together produce an almost painterly quality in water textures.

Light Panel: Shadows −20 | Blacks −15 | Contrast +25.
Color Panel: Blue +40 | Temperature −20 | Other colors −15.
Effects Panel: Clarity +20 | Dehaze +10.
Detail Panel: Sharpening +25.
Purpose: dramatic, rich beach photos.
Best For: Deep-ocean shots and underwater photography.
Style: Rich, intense, and mysterious.
11. Soft Pastel Beach Preset
Soft Pastel Beach captures that gentle, hazy morning light when the beach feels completely empty and calm. The desaturated palette with subtle pink-blue shifts is perfect for fine-art beach photography and creates a dreamlike quality that photographs beautifully in print.

Light Panel: Exposure +10 | Contrast −15.
Color Panel: Saturation −10 | Red → Pink +15 | Blue → Soft Teal +10 | Yellow → Light Yellow +10.
Effects Panel: Clarity +5 | Dehaze −5.
Detail Panel: Sharpening +5.
Purpose: soft, gentle beach photos with a dreamy pastel vibe.
Best For: Early mornings, sunsets, or any beach scene with soft light.
Style: Soft, dreamy, and serene.
12. Crisp Morning Beach Preset
Crisp Morning is the “wake up and get to the beach at 6 am” preset: sharp, bright, clean, with a slightly cool tint that replicates that early-morning freshness before the heat haze sets in. It works beautifully on sharp-focus wave shots and landscape compositions where clarity and edge detail matter.

Light Panel: Exposure +15 | Contrast +20.
Color Panel: Temperature −10 | Blue +15 | Green +15.
Effects Panel: Clarity +20 | Texture +15.
Detail Panel: Sharpening +20.
Purpose: bright, crisp beach photos.
Best For: Early morning beach walks, clear skies, and shots with lots of natural light.
Style: Bright, fresh, and invigorating.
13. Sunkissed Waves Preset
Sunkissed Waves is all about the sparkle that brilliant glint of sunlight on moving water that makes a beach shot look alive. The highlight boost and warm color shift work together to make those specular highlights on the ocean surface shine, while the slight vignette keeps your eye moving toward the water rather than the edges.

Light Panel: Exposure +10 | Highlights +20 | Shadows +10.
Color Panel: Temperature +15 | Yellow +20 | Orange +20 | Blue −10.
Effects Panel: Clarity +10 | Vignette −5.
Detail Panel: Sharpening +10.
Purpose: highlight the beauty of sunlit waves.
Best For: Sunny beach days, close-ups of waves.
Style: Warm, inviting, and vibrant.
14. Moody Coastal Preset
Moody Coastal is for photographers who love the dramatic, elemental side of the sea: storm clouds, crashing waves, empty winter beaches where no tourist would go. It drops the temperature, kills the warmth, and uses a strong dehaze to make atmospheric coastal haze look cinematic rather than hazy.

Light Panel: Exposure −10 | Shadows −20 | Contrast +25.
Color Panel: Temperature −20 | Saturation −15.
Effects Panel: Clarity +15 | Dehaze +10 | Vignette −15.
Detail Panel: Sharpening +20.
Purpose: dramatic, moody beach photos.
Best For: Overcast or stormy days, rocky coastlines.
Style: Dark, dramatic, and atmospheric.
15. Vibrant Beach Party Preset
Vibrant Beach Party is the opposite of subtle; it’s loud, colorful, and energetic. Built for photographing beach events, festivals, and fun summer days where bold color is the whole point. Everything gets brighter, more saturated, and more alive.

Light Panel: Exposure +20 | Contrast +15.
Color Panel: Saturation +30 | Vibrance +25 | Blue +15 | Red +20 | Yellow +20.
Effects Panel: Clarity +15 | Vignette −5.
Detail Panel: Sharpening +25.
Purpose: bright, energetic beach photos.
Best For: Beach parties, colorful beach gear, and lively scenes with lots of activity.
Style: Bright, colorful, and energetic.
16. Tranquil Shores Preset
Tranquil Shores is a meditation on stillness, reduced clarity, softened contrast, and a very gentle coolness that makes even a moderately busy beach feel peaceful. It’s my go-to for those rare shots where the tide is absolutely flat, and the reflection is perfect.

Light Panel: Contrast −15 | Shadows +20 | Exposure −5.
Color Panel: Saturation −10 | Temperature −10 | Green +10.
Effects Panel: Clarity −10 | Dehaze −5 | Vignette −5.
Detail Panel: Sharpening +5.
Purpose: soft, peaceful beach photos.
Best For: Quiet beaches, early mornings.
Style: Soft, calm, and peaceful.
17. Beach Wedding Preset
Beach Wedding is built for one specific job, and it does it extremely well: making beach wedding portraits look warm, elegant, and timeless. It enhances golden-hour warmth, brightens whites without blowing them out (critical for bridal dresses), and adds a romantic softness that client couples love.

Light Panel: Exposure +10 | Temperature +15 | Shadows +20.
Color Panel: Yellow +20 | Orange +20 | Blue −10 | Vibrance +15.
Effects Panel: Clarity +10 | Vignette −10.
Detail Panel: Sharpening +15.
Purpose: the warmth, romance, and elegance of a beach wedding.
Best For: Beach weddings at sunset, intimate ceremonies by the sea, and romantic couple portraits.
Style: Warm, romantic, and elegant.
18. Black and White Preset
Black and White Beach removes everything except light, shadow, and form, and what remains is often more powerful than the original color. The contrast boost makes waves look sculptural, the grain adds a classic film-photography quality, and the red channel adjustment keeps skin tones smooth rather than harsh.

Light Panel: Contrast +25 | Exposure −10.
Color Panel: Black & White conversion | Red +20 | Blue −15 (B&W Mix).
Effects Panel: Clarity +15 | Grain +10.
Detail Panel: Sharpening +20.
Purpose: a timeless, dramatic, and emotional essence of the moment.
Best For: Classic portraits, candid moments.
Style: Timeless, dramatic, and elegant.
19. Summer Beach Preset
Summer Beach is the all-purpose, everyday beach preset that makes everything slightly brighter, slightly more saturated, slightly sharper. It’s the edit you apply when you want the photo to feel like the best possible version of a normal sunny beach day. Not dramatic, not minimal, just excellent.

Light Panel: Exposure +15 | Highlights +20 | Contrast +10.
Color Panel: Saturation +25 | Vibrance +20 | Blue +25 | Yellow +20 | Orange +20 | Green +10.
Effects Panel: Clarity +15 | Dehaze −5.
Detail Panel: Sharpening +25.
Purpose: the essence of summer fun and sunshine.
Best For: Summer beach days, vibrant landscapes.
Style: Bright, energetic, and vibrant.
